For Authors
Submit ManuscriptUniversity of Pennsylvania Journal of Business Law
For more than two decades, the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Business Law has published cutting-edge scholarship on a broad range of business law topics, including corporate governance, securities regulation, capital markets regulation, employment law, and mergers and acquisitions.
The Journal of Business Law is currently accepting submissions for Volume 25 (2022-2023). We typically publish articles in four issues. Decisions are made on a rolling basis, although we are most active in the spring, from February to April, and early fall, from August to September. We may take longer to review manuscripts submitted outside of these windows.
The Journal of Business Law carefully reviews every submission that is received. All articles that are accepted for publication are thoroughly reviewed by both the Articles Editors and the Editor-in-Chief. We provide all authors seven days to make a decision after an offer of publication.
Submission Requirements
Style
The citations and text of the manuscript must conform with The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (21st ed. 2020). Although we often accept articles that do not strictly conform with The Bluebook, we will reject those with poorly formated or incomplete citations.
Article Length
The Journal of Business Law gives preference to articles with 18,000-25,000 words (including footnotes). We typically reject articles exceeding 30,000 words and those less than 10,000 words.
Financial Hardship
The Journal of Business Law recognizes that some authors may face financial hardship when submitting articles through Scholastica. We encourage these authors to submit a fee waiver request to Scholastica at support@scholasticahq.com.
If Scholastica is unable to provide a fee waiver, authors facing financing hardsphip should email their submissions and an explanation of the circumstances they face to Alexan (Alex) Stulc, Editor-in-Chief of Volume 25, at JBL@law.upenn.edu.
